CivicCode is a 12-hour civic tech hackathon in Nepal that challenges developers and tech enthusiasts to bridge the gap between theoretical governance ideas and practical action. Working in diverse, collaborative teams, participants will leverage modern computing and AI to transition unique ideas into functional tools and prototypes. Rather than just talking about civic tech, young innovators will actively build implementable solutions that support digital democracy, overcome real-world accessibility barriers, and empower communities, competing for cash prizes and global recognition based on their project's execution and impact.

Application Timeline
Applications Open
Online applications open via the Think Big portal. Assemble your team and start preparing your concept.
Application Closes
The application portal closes at 05:00 PM. The top 5+ teams will be shortlisted and contacted by the evening.
Virtual Orientation
All selected teams will participate in a mandatory virtual orientation call to go over rules and guidelines.
Hackathon Day!
The 12-hour hackathon kicks off at 6:00 AM with active mentorship. Judging and awards ceremony will take place at 6:00 PM.

How to Apply?

Form Your Team
Assemble a team of 2 to 4 members with a mix of technical and creative skills and at least one female teammate.

Access the Portal
Visit the official Think Big application portal (https://thinkbig.org.np/apply/civiccode) before 05:00 PM on 23th June 2025.

Submit Your Concept
Fill out the application form, detailing your chosen hackathon theme and providing a brief outline of the specific problem your tool will solve.

Showcase Your Skills (Optional)
Include links to past projects, GitHub repositories, or design portfolios to highlight your team's technical capabilities.

Await Confirmation
Shortlisted teams will be contacted by the evening of 18th June with further instructions.
Rules & Regulations
Inclusive TeamsEvery team must include at least one female member.
Authentic ApplicationsThe use of AI tools to write your application answers is strictly prohibited. We want your genuine ideas and thought.
Permitted AI UseDuring the hackathon, AI tools are only allowed for coding assistance, debugging, and relevant image generation.
No Pre-Built ProjectsCore development must happen entirely within the 12-hour window. We will monitor GitHub timestamps. (Setting up basic boilerplate is allowed).
Original WorkYour project must be original and not violate the trademarks or copyrights of any other entity.
Respectful ConductCivicCode is a collaborative space. Any form of harassment or unprofessional behavior will result in immediate disqualification.
Further GuidelinesAdditional rules and judging criteria will be shared during the mandatory orientation call and social media.

Co-founded by a diverse group of six women with extensive international experience, P4I provides agile, non-bureaucratic, and cost-effective assistance to strengthen democratic resilience in politically sensitive environments around the world.
